How easy is it to get a job from snagajob.com?

How come it is easy for others to get a job but it is soo hard for me to get one?

  • I don't get it? I had my resume edited and made by a couple professionals, so it looks and sounds great. I had applied for 10 jobs last week, still no call backs for interviews. I just applied for 3 more positions this morning. My friend has a good resume too, but she made it herself. She quit her job on friday, applied for a job that I wanted the same day and she got hired this morning :'(. Why is it so easy for others?

  • Answer:

I don't know why it's so easy for some people to get jobs. I have the same problem as you. I don't understand why. I think most of the time it's who you know. I'm finding that having the right credentials and skills generally means nothing these days. It's all political. I know people, forgive me for saying, that are complete idiots but still land high end positions with little to no knowledge or experience. But because, their dad is best friends with the CEO or executive assistant their resumes get slipped to the top of the pile. Or it could just be simple bad timing or missed opportunity. Meaning you seem to always put your resume through right when the interviewing period has ended, or the recruiter has just shut down their computer for the day. It sucks I know. I guess all I can say is don't give up. I know it gets frustrating hearing that especially, when you're trying so hard. I know I'm sick of hearing it but, if you keep trying something or someone is bound to contact you. I hope things get better. Good luck!

cute picture! just go in I bet you will get hired.

Managers are normally looking at a resume' to determine a number of things. The key to getting their attention is show originality. Have you had previous employment or are you just out of school? Be original, that alone counts for over 50% of what they look for. List your education level but don't go overboard about it. Explain why you think you would be an asset to the company. That might require a short explanation of what you have done in the past, but again, don't make it long winded. Many people today have such an extensive resume' that they appear over qualified for the open position. Managers want to hire people that they feel will stay with them. Relax, if you can tell a SHORT story, maybe with a touch of CLEAN humor, about yourself, do it. Try to be friendly in your writing.

There are a lot of possible answers to this. Maybe you don't have the education or experience employers are looking for. Maybe you don't present yourself professionally. Maybe you have inappropriate material on your social media networking sites. Maybe you are applying for the wrong kinds of jobs. Just because you had your resume professionally made doesn't mean it appeals to the employers you are applying to.

It could also be experience. It could be she knows someone. Experience and networking is valuable. Also, it could be just luck of the draw. They pulled her resume out of the stack and everyone else was tossed.

Maybe it's the pictures you have up on facebook. Employers check this before anything else. Google your own name and clean stuff up.
