How long to wait after interview to call and check up?

Should I call to check up on this job?

• Okay so I went in for a second interview and he liked me. He even gave me the job. But the problem is when I filled out the paperwork for him to send in for the background check, he kept saying it would take one-two weeks and I wouldn't hear from him. And was basically saying don't call me I'll call you when it comes in. But tomorrow (Tues) it will be 3 weeks. So my questions is since it's been over 2 weeks and I still haven't heard anything do you think it would be okay to call and check? Or because he said to wait for him to call me, should I wait to see if I hear from him soon?? Also I do not have a criminal record, and I have not credit report (I asked if it was a problem he said no). So nothing should be wrong with the background check. Unless some one like stole my identity and I don't know, or something.

  I would call the background check company If you don't have that info I would call him and say that your anxious to start and sorry for the bother maybe Ben ask for he background check company info so you can call them for an update
