Can i make up a previous job to put on a application to get a job?
-
I am trying to get my first job. I am 19 and graduated last year with a high school diploma. My problem with having trouble getting a job is that the places I apply at want people that have already had previous jobs. Can I make up a fake job and have a family member or friend act like they were my employer or will odd jobs like doing farm work for neighbors for months at a time count as a first job even though it wasn't a job that the government paid me for

Answer:
Most people who lie are found out, and employers don't trust people who lie. Keep applying anywhere and everywhere you can, but for goodness sake - you may not have experience but at least keep your integrity.

Yeah, you can list having been a farm hand and get someone to be a reference for you. It's not at all true that most of the time employers find out you're not exactly being truthful, just as long as you have a reference you can trust. Just because you don't get paid for something and it's not an office job doesn't mean it's not work experience. That's why people can put volunteer and internship positions on their resume.

People do it. And often look like liars and idiots on an interview when they're asked a lot of details about the job.

Sure, that's only fraud.
