What to do before becoming a nurse?

What are my chances of becoming a nurse?

  • Last year in September, I attempted suicide. After being discharged, I have been out of the hospital for 8 months. I am on psychiatric medicine to control my symptoms. One of my goals is to become a registered nurse; would having any mental health diagnosis prevent me from becoming a nurse? Will I have to tell the Nursing school i have mental health issues, and would I also have to tell a future employer about the attempt, any medicines I'm on and my psychiatric history?

  • Answer:

Im so sorry. But I'm sure they would know looking at your records. I think getting a mental health diagnosis would help though. Getting on medication would prove that you are really taking your life back. But I really don't know that's just how I would see it if I was an employer.
