How do you give the xbox elite another hard drive?

How do you give the xbox elite another hardrive?

  • I got a new xbox( xbox 360 elite) to replace my other one that had the red ring of death, and I figured out it doesn't take original xbox games. Every time I tried, it showed a screen that says I need an xbox 360 hardrive on it, or something like that, an I can't figure out how to get another hadrive on it. i also need another one considering the fact that this can ony hold 4g of memory.

  • Answer:

If you want to play original xbox games you need to get an official Microsoft hard drive. Some of the cheap knock offs don't have the correct partition and files to play them. If you still have the hard drive from your last xbox you can open the hdd case with a torx bit and install it in your new slim ( I am assuming you have the new 4GB slim and not an elite). Watch this link, it is easier than me describing the process. Not my video BTW. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKnaixPCsns

Firstly, just to correct you, your console is not an Xbox 360 Elite, it is an Xbox 360 4GB Slim. You will need to purchase a hard drive for the console from your local game shop and then it slots into the bottom of the console. There is a little part of the bottom of the console which opens up to reveal a hard drive slot. The reason you need a hard drive is because the backwards compatibility files are only stored on the hard drives and no other memory unit. The 4GB is internal flash memory. Here is an image of the hard drive slot: http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSQyAD46Ci8PkhUnc_5peg71vaWuEcIw38vAfMbDUVu1xYj_KaPZO98pVQd0g And here is an image of the Slims hard drive: http://www.focus-fire.com/store/images/xbox_slim_250gb_hdd.jpg
