What cruise lines do you recommend?

What are differences between Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise?

  • Answer:

As others have mentioned, you're going to need to take adults with you, no matter which line you choose. If anyone in a cabin is under 21, someone else in that cabin must be at least 21 on Royal Caribbean, and at least 25 for Carnival. The only exceptions are when a family is traveling together; they can get connecting or nearby cabins; or when the occupants of the cabin are under 21 but married to each other (and they must provide proof of marriage). And the rules are going to be the same for all of the other lines, except Cunard and Disney, and both of those are very high priced. I've sailed on both lines, and my personal preference is Royal Caribbean - but I'm old enough to be your mother. I really do not like the decor on Carnival ships - it's tacky IMO - and I prefer a more sedate and formal atmosphere in the main dining room (Carnival has a lot of chrome and even neon, and the waiters sing and dance EVERY night!). Food's about the same between the two, and they probably both use the same companies to do excursions (but I book my own excursions through independent companies, because it's much less expensive). On my last Carnival cruise, I actually got up and left one of the shows in the main theatre - it wasn't any better than a high school review. But I don't tend to go to the shows much anyway, I prefer to hang out chatting and relaxing with my friends.

Well, you're not old enough to book on Carnival - or Royal, for that matter. Disney is the only line that allows kids under 21 to book without adult supervision. Carnival and Royal are about the same, in general, although RC will usually cost more. BTW - The drinking age on US-departure sailings is 21, not 18 "because you're in international waters".

You have to be at least 21 to cruise alone. Carnival is a little cheaper than Royal Caribbean, and they are called "the fun ship." It's all about fun, so I would recommend Carnival. We have friends that have done both and usually the older crowd prefers Royal Caribbean and the younger prefer Carnival. have fun!!

First of all I assume you need to be 21 to book a cruise and and there has to be someone at least 21 years of age in each cabin. In my personal opinion I would recommend Royal Caribbean. I think they are of slightly higher class and the food and staff are a lot better.

RCCL has nicer ships but I think Carnival has better MDR food. Carnival is much less expensive but in no way "cheaper" And the previous poster is correct - you will need someone at least 21 in each cabin on RCCL and at least 25 years of age in each cabin on Carnival.

there is little difference between carnival and royal caribbean, both are built to a nice standard. carnival has guys burgers, and royal caribbean has johnny rockets for example. they are very comparable. you might find the same itinerary on each, with carnival just a little bit less expensive. you will find people who will vote for carnival over any other line, but have never been on the other lines to compare, and youll find the same for RC. Norwegian Cruise Line is also very similar to both these lines, they all have their own little differences to make them unique. since you are all seniors in high school you will need a parent on board with you, but on NCL that turns out to be a good thing for that age, because your parent/ legal gaurdian can sign a form allowing you to drink! enjoy whatever line you choose! happy cruising!
