I had my first day at Mcdonalds on Sunday and I still don't know my shifts I've had two days of? (See info)?

I started at Mcdonalds in Sunday 10-4 they didn't even give me a break when I asked! When it was time for me to go I asked it I was in the next day and she said I wasn't on the form with the times so she would get someone to phone me, no-one phoned me! So I phoned them to ask and they still didn't know! She said again she would get someone to phone me back and no-one did! It's now tuesday and I've had no call! I have no idea if I was meant to be in or not, I dont even no what I'm meant to be doing if they do ever call me to go back? I feel like I'm being messed around! I've checked all the schedules online and my name still isn't on any of then! I have my uniform and everything my clock in number, also where it says the hours I have worked it says I didn't work Sunday and seems like I won't be getting paid for it! What should I do? I'm finding it really annoying! (this is my first job)

Answer:
Go to the job to check schedule yourself. You will learn job skills every day. They arent treating you good at all. Sorry you have had a rough time at your new job.

First of all,I'm guessing you are a minor seeing it's your first job.Second, I don't know the Labor Laws in Canada. But I can assume that they are similar to the States,in which a minor can work up to six hours with out a break, Over the six hours you must clock out for a half an hour before resuming work. You are also allowed to only work 40 hours total with school and your work hours.(20 school hours + 20 work hours =40 combined).Working over any of these times can result in a hefty fine for the restaurant. However,I can tell you that there isn't anything as irritating as a new employee asking for a break, especially on their first day. As far as your schedule and getting paid for Sunday. You have to understand that posting it takes some time. There may be someone else that is doing it and posting on a particular day.If you are impatient and annoyed it may be because you didn't receive the proper information in the first place.I suggest you go to your place of employment and find out. Ask what day the schedule is posted , find out who is posting it,ask whoever hired you in the first place about your concerns, and don't worry about not knowing what you are supposed to be doing while you are on the job, they will tell you, it may change from day to day while you are in training. No one there expects you to know anything yet.You only need to retain what you have learned on a day to day basis when you are there.

Your first job and first mistake. Where you employed by the manager of McDonalds and recieved an employment contract, if yes why did you began work without first inquiring about your schedule or what you will be doing there or if your name was included, and now the clock shows you haven't worked which your did. i guess you were played around by someone to work there that sunday because you identity is no where to be found on their schedules and no one is calling you about this. instead of being annoyed and thinking of what you will be doing if they dont call , go there and bring out what is hidden under the tables, its not fair they way they treat.

You are not required to have a break until you have worked 7.5 hours, you only worked 6. Also they don't have to give you a break when you ask, they will do it if they feel they can spare the person (if you work 7.5+ hours then you will be scheduled one). Go back in and talk to your general manager or whoever hired you, they should know. Also did you remember to clock in on Sunday? Go in and speak with the General manager and get things straightened out.
