How do you find acting auditions?

How can I find out about acting auditions for film near where I live?

  • Answer:

No, there isn't. Since you apparently do not know that: 1. Nearly ALL auditions are held in LA, and pretty much all of the very few open ones are there too. 2. You need to have an agent for legit auditions. I am assuming you are not trained. Any trained actor would know that. Since you probably have not had 1-3 years of acting training, including at least a year of screen-training, you are not ready for an agent, much less TV/Film auditions for good roles. You could, if you do not want to get training, fly to LA to audition for an extra, but there are usually only about 20-40 extras, and you would be competing with thousands for one of those slots. Nobody notices extras, and not much acting is involved. It's mainly just standing in the background, and it will get you nowhere. Instead, try putting "Acting Classes in Pittsburgh" into the Google Search Engine and see what comes up. @Amelia- Like I said, no talent agency will take an untrained beginner.

you won't be able to find many auditions by yourself you'll either need some good friends in the industry already or you'll need to get an agent. be careful when applying for agents, never pay any fee's upfront. whether they say its for head shots or for anything else. legitimate agents get a share of your payment for the gigs they get you.

there aren't any major films or tv cast where you are. you would need to be in NYC and have a theatrical agent to know about those. you could look in the classifieds of your newspaper for ind. film auditions.

Check out SAG/AFTRA Pittsburgh, they may or may not help you also find the non-union area production resources... ;^o http://www.aftrapgh.com/
