How to delete temporary files in MATLAB?

Can the computer still hibernate if you delete hibernation files?

  • On Disk Cleanup, the box for Hibernation File Cleaner on my computer is unchecked. The size of the hibernation files is 1.74 GB. Disk Cleanup says "You can use Disk Cleanup to free up to 1.75 GB of disk space." Is it safe to delete those files? Can I still use the hibernation feature after I do that? Why is the box unchecked if nothing won't happen if I delete the files? The only other box that is unchecked is the Recycle Bin. But I know how to empty that. My concern is with the hibernation files, 1.74 GB so far, just in case my computer won't be able to go into hibernation anymore if I delete the files. I use hibernation, sometimes, when I don't want to shut down my computer. The files have taken up a lot of space on my disk and I would like to get rid of them but only if I can still use hibernation after that.

Yes, it's safe to check and delete. Yes, you will still be able to hibernate your system (but there's really not much reason to hibernate a desktop PC). Do a disk defrag after you do the disk cleanup.

I'm guessing those are old hibernation files from a previous session. You could probably delete them but they'd be created again the next time you hibernate- so that 1.74GB of space should be considered "reserved". You really can't count it as available space, since in order for hibernate to work you're gonna need hibernation files of that size.
