How do I get webcam effects on my computer?

My computer keeps crashing when I try to get my webcam up...?

I want to make a video to put up on youtube so I pressed the little button thing on the top of the keyboard that goes to the quickplay start page thing and I go to the option that has all the videos and webcam and stuff...I click the webcam then the light comes on but no picture and it starts flashing (which it never does) then I hit full screen thinking it will pop up....but it doesn't it just starts spazzing out and then crashes...this hasn't happened before but I rarely use the webcam to record stuff like that -,- help me? please? This laptop was handed down to me when my brother got a mac so I'm not exactly sure what it is...in the bottle right it says HP Pavilion Entertainment PC...

Before I answer I highly recommend you ignore the above comment as you could be scammed into a virus or have a worse problem with a hacker. Now If the webcam flashes when you try to turn it on this really yells you do not have the drivers downloaded, or updated. If you do uninstall and then reinstall. Drivers to HP products are free on their website but sometimes take a while to download. Goodluck
