How do I save a link to my browser?

Download files manually from address without clicking a hyperlink and save as?

  • If I visit http://www.example.com/song.mp3, that file would play in my browser. If I want to download that file instead, I have to right-click a hyperlink to that exact address and choose Save as. However, if there is no hyperlink to that page, what do I do? I could of course make a local HTML document with an <a> tag to generate a link so I can save the file, but is there not some other way? Can't I download that file directly from the command prompt or my browser in some way?

  • Answer:

Find a downloadable copy of "wget.exe", a Windows port of the "wget" Unix / Linux command. You can use it from the command prompt, e.g.: wget http://www.example.com/song.mp3
