What are videos editing software recommendations?

Windows video editing software recommendations (not necessarily free software)?

  • Hello there. I'm a relative newbie to video editing. I'm running windows 7 and I'd like some advice on which piece of software to choose beyond the usual "tip" to buy a mac. The default Windows package is hopelessly basic. I'm looking for something to edit together video clips, deal with voice over, music, sophisticated looking annotations, decent encoding and video output... the whole shebang really. Obviously free is good but in my past experience I've found freeware to be lacking in functionality and quality. I'm open to any tips, but I'm particularly interested in what the best "Pro" option is for an editing newbie that wants to develop creative projects. Here's where I will probably show my naivety: I'm working on kind of a budget, so spending hundreds of pounds on anything is totally out of the question. Does that effectively price me out of any kind of decent software or is there anything in the sub £100 market that is reasonable? The less the better obviously, so long as it isn't a piece of trash. If that is out of the question, out of curiosity what is the "best" software money can buy? Not that I'll be pursuing that, I'm just curious :P

Well I live in the US so...not sure about how dollars translate to pounds, but my friend and I make videos and we use Corel Video Studio. It has everything you were saying you wanted, and it has a free 30 day trial. After that it's $79.99 if you want the latest version, x5, and the last version, x4, is a little cheaper. But they both are basically the same, although I would suggest x5 if you have the money. Here is a link to their site: http://www.corel.com/corel/product/index.jsp?pid=prod4650075&cid=catalog50008&segid=6100016&storeKey=ca&languageCode=en
