I want to set up the layout for a single page to print, with text and pictures, what free program, how?

I want it to be landscape orientation. I'm having a hard time using MS Paint - it doesn't have a page view, and it's hard to get it to line up right on the print preview because there's little to no correspondence with the normal window view and the print preview. Are there any other free and easy programs I can use?
