Answer:
You can do reserves where you only have to drill 1 weekend out of the month. But when you sign your contract for X amount of years, you better follow through with it.

If you decide to join the Air Force, you have a few different options: 1: Get an Enlistment Guarantee for one of the jobs the Air Force currently has available, and after Boot camp you will attend you technical school for that career field. 2. If you fail out of that technical training by either disciplinary or educationally you will be reclassified into another career field probably into a job you do not want, because it will be only what the Air Force has available 3. Sign up for a 4 or 6 year enlistment, and at your halfway point, you will have the option to Crosstrain into another job, and given the opportunity to pick another career and retrain into that specialty. Once you sign up for the Air Force, in order to get an Honorable discharge, you have to serve your commitment or have to be given the option by the Air Force to separate.
Enlisted service commitments are typically 4-8 years depending on the contract you make with your recruiter. During this time, no you cannot quit. After your service commitment is up, then you can get out and pursue whatever career you want. For officers, the initial service commitment is 4 years (AFA 5 years). If the AF pays for you to go to medical school, then the commitment is longer so they can get a return on their investment.

What is your career goal? Everyone has given you decent answers, but perhaps you should talk to your uncle about his career. Ask him what his AFSC was and why did he get out. What exactly is a "little bit" of time? Did he get kicked out? Everyone's experience is different and your uncle may not be telling you the whole story. You did say you didn't know, so find out.....and the word is "pursuing" your career goal....which you can do while in the Air Force.

You cant just choose to quit whenever you want but you don't have to give many years. Basically you will sign a contract that says you have to be in the air force up to a certain date. At that date you can either sign another contract or retire from the military.

Yup...you can do it for the lenght of your enlistment contract....4 years active then 4 years reserves...that's the minimum contract.
