How much can bartender make?

  • I am thinking of becoming a bartender to supplement my income. I know tips would encompass the bulk of the income. What is the average amount of tips? Is it worth the investment to attend bar tending school?

    Sad as it seems, it quite often depends on your gender. My sister was drop dead gorgeous and made $200USD per night, minimum, in Pt. Roberts, Washington USA. And no, she didn't sleep with any of the customers! Males have to rely on their good service, charm and sense of humor. And they still make less tips than the gorgeous female that flirts with the males.

I work in a night club bar tending on Saturday nights. i work from 10pm till 4am i make about £30 per night... but clubs are so expensive people don't bother with tips. the most I've gotten is £3 one night. Don't bank on it... its not worth it unless you work in a really posh place with celebs but it will be well hard to get a job in that kind of place.
