  • I dropped from penn foster highschool which is a scam by the way they say high school diploma but really it's a super expensive GED . But I already did some work with them and now I owe 400 dollars and I barley did anything will that be my debt since its for me am I responsible to pay for it my mom set it up for me but my social is on it how this affect me should I pay it

  • Answer:

You will most definitely have a debt. Pay it off what's done is done.I paid almost $1500 for an online high school that was accredited by the Middle States Association (which is one of the six accrediting agencies) and could not get accepted into any university (five to be exact) that was near me until one state university did and after the second semester they ask that I take my GED because the college no longer recognized any distance education schools due to the fact that they felt they were not up to par. They thought it would be unfair for me to stay their while other people were turned away with the same diploma. Get your GED prices range from $0-$150 depending on the state you reside. My exam was only $50. So I received my GED and transferred to a better university not because I could not go back but because I was pissed that they couldn't grandfather me into the system since I was already there. I am currently a Pre-Med Major doing well at a four year university and am so grateful for the GED. Not once while I'm in college has someone asked me if I was a GED grad nobody really cares. The only person who ask for proof is the admissions office that is it. I am afforded the same opportunity as a high school grad. I can't stress enough to people to get their GED and don't listen to naysayers who hasn't even earned one saying how bad the GED is or you won't get hired or blah blah blah. I admit I use to be one of them until I realized the opportunities that had come to me with this diploma. I called a total of ten med schools to see if having the GED will effect my entrance into medical school, All ten schools told me it would not effect me at all if not improve my chances since I was different. I would not compare the GED with a diploma from Penn Foster because 98% of colleges and universities accept the GED but a lot of colleges are blacklisting applicants who receive an online diploma. People who have the GED can attend any university they please including Columbia University (Ivy League): http://www.gs.columbia.edu/ged-can-i-really-go-columbia and so many top universities like Stanford. The reason why the majority of GED Grads attend community colleges because they don't take their SATs or ACT exams. If your a regular high school grad and have a bad score or don't take those exams I guarantee you will only be accepted at a community college too. So take your GED and your SATs if you want to gain admittance to a four year university. Just pay the 400 dollars, and just get a GED that your state offers. In GA, you can take the test for 96 dollars, and the classes to study for it are free.
