Why can't I consolidate private and federal student loans into one loan?

Is it possible to consolidate both my wife and my own's federal and private student loans into one giant loan?

  • Hi, my wife and I are fixing to graduate from college this coming May. The big issue we face of course is that all of our student loans are going to begin coming out of deferment. We want to, if it's at all possible, consolidate all of these loans, including the private student loans that we've unfortunately accumulated, into a giant student loan. I'm not at all sure this is possible, hence why I'm asking, but if it is, I'd love some detail. Thank you in advance. -Jason

  • Answer:

NO. You can not combine two peoples student loans like this. Only thing you can do is, you two can go to a bank or lender and take out a personal loan big enough to pay off all the loans. However, you will pay more in the long run since you'll get the higher interest. Only thing you two can do is consolidate SEPARATELY each others loans and just have two big loans. One for you and one for her.

No it's not possible to consolidate loans of different person into one loan, whatever the relation might be. You can however take a large loan amount for paying both the loans off , but this process might cost you more overall. You can research more about this or refer to my site given below. Thanks.
