What UC is the easiest to get into?

What classes in HS should I take to get into UC SB?

  • I'm a 9th grader, I would like to know what college I should take Sophomore Year, Junior Year, and Senior Year so I can get into University of California Santa Barbara (UC SB). And would it also be good if I take AP classes? If yes, then which one. I'm hoping for someone who went to UC SB or any UC to give me advise(s), I'm really worried about my future. :/

  • Answer:

There are no certain classes (ex. AP Bio) that if you take guarantees that you'll get in, but take challenging AP and honors courses and if you think you have an idea of what you want to study in college, you should take the most advanced classes in that area. For example, if you want to be a History major, you better try to take classes such as AP U.S. History and AP European History. The more well-rounded you are, the better your application looks, so don't just automatically turn down all other AP's if using this example you want to be a history major. I want to be a science major, but I took AP's in history, math, and foreign language in addition to science because I like all of those subjects, like the challenge, and it helps to create more well-rounded profile.

Take all the honors classes and AP's that you can handle. However, colleges also look at well roundedness so be active. UCSB is one of the easier UC's to get into. College is increasingly becoming more competitive. Do all that you can to make yourself a good candidate for the position. As long as you have around a 4.2 or so and have some other activities to balance you out plus a decent SAT score, you should be fine. Remember, though, that college decisions are pretty arbitrary so just don't slack off. there are really no specific classes you should take just take the ones your other "high caliber" peers are taking that you don't look lazy compared to them.

All APs if you can, 4 years of english, math, and science. This includes calculus, geometry, anatomy and physio, or any higher science class that they offer. Do community service if you can, high SATs as well. Good luck because I had a nice gpa took ap classes and got rejected at all 4 UCs i applied to.
