My Freshmen Grades: Honors English : A/A Biology/ Honors Biology: A/A Algebra: A/A History: A/A Gym: A/A Forensic Science: A-/A Sophomore Year: AP USH: A-/A AP LANG: A-/A- Honors Chem: A-/B Geometry: A/B+ Arabic: B-/A Econ:A Psych: A Junior Year:(first semester) Ap Bio: B Ap Lit: A Algebra 2: A Arabic: A- Comparative Religions at a local college: A Philosophy at a local college: A- Second Semester Ap Bio ApLit Arabic Algebra 2 Psych at a local college Italian at a local college Senior Year classes (first semester) Ap Chem Ap Stat Art Anthropology at a local college Speech at a local college English 132 at a local college My fear is that my grades will drop during second semester of junior year. I experienced a death in the family which affected us greatly and the thing that worries me the most is I had a food allergic reaction during an Italian exam, so i missed that day, which most likly will bring my grade down to a C-/ D ACT : 28 I am apart of: National Honor Society Unicef Med Society - VP ASU- Treasurer Key Club political science club One club Red cross Ice craving club Italian club International club Co-Founder of SIA Began a fundraiser provide clean water to 3rd world nations They meet at different times, days, etc. Community Service hours: 500 I will be attending University of Michigan summer camps I am currently involved in the University of Michigan Writing Academy

    You look like your on the right track. Honestly, even though I know you don't want to hear it, theres no way to tell if you'll get in or not. Most applicants are qualified and way over qualified, so it comes down to standing out. Some advice I can give you, if you want to stand out: Your involved in way too much. It looks like you just sign up for everything, but you are not passionate about a few things that you really work towards. In your essays, if you spit out all that your involved in, it doesnt mean as much as talking about one thing that your excel in and really inspires you. Your ACT is a little low, so if you want to be compeititve, get that up. I wish you would have just said your GPA instead of listing all your grades, but whatever it is, compare it to the admissions requirements. Also, Michigan usually wants top 10.

Your grades seem pretty god so far; if your grades drop, there's an Additional Information section on most applications where you can note this extenuating circumstance, as well as probably your food allergy that helps to explain your grades and performance. Your ACT is a little low (middle 50% is 27-31), so you might want to try and bring that up if possible. However, as is most of note and as was said above, it just seems like you're spreading on EC's to try and hit every base and are probably having minimal involvement in many of them. For example, none of your clubs really matter unless you're an official or founder of the club, otherwise it's hard for you to really demonstrate that you've had any kind of meaningful involvement. On essays, you're really going to have to be able to highlight EC's and activities where you've had a lot invested in it and where you're passionate for it, not you just trying to fire off all your credentials in a limited word count. Your class rank is good though; you're definitely top 5% which is a great position to be in.
