Community college students by far have priority to transfer to the UC's. There are TAG transfer programs that guarantee CC students can transfer to many of the UC's upon completion of the program. Look on CC websites for info under Transfer. UCLA has the Scholars/Honors Program, which gives CC students priority consideration for admission upon completion of the program, while not a guarantee, it's very helpful. After the CC's, then UC transfers to other UC's, then Cal State transfers to UC's. For UCLA 2011, they admitted about 29% of CC applicants, 25% from other UC's, and 9% from all other CA colleges (including the Cal States). Click on the type of college under By School Transferring From, look at admit rate, to get specifics for individual colleges. Other UC's may have their info on their websites, too. UCLA transfers: http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof11.htm I've heard some students have transferred from a Cal State to a Community College after a year, so they would do their second year at the CC, and get guaranteed admission to a UC. Good luck!
