What is electrostatic printing used for?

What would happen if we stopped printing money and only used what we had today?

  • What would happen if we stopped printing money and only printed new bills to replace worn bills? For example, let's say there are 100 trillion dollars in circulation right now. What would happen if we never printed another dollar and just let people utilize those existing dollars? So in ten years there was still only 100 trillion dollars. Why wouldn't we want to do that?

  • Answer:

That is the problem in Greece, and it makes headlines constantly. Taking care of responsibilities hurts, and the more you put it off the more it hurts. A few years ago Brazil had that problem. They decided to start taking care of responsibilities. You just haven't heard about them again, have you? Why wouldn't we want to do that? Well, the reason is called Keynesian economics. John Maynard Keynes turn all the theories of traditional economics sideways and restated everything to justify high taxation and constant creation of paper money. Politicians were thrilled because his theories seemed to provide a flood of money to do anything they wanted to do. It was a politician's pipe dream. Now we see the real consequences of that hoax: so many countries are collapsing that we lump them together and call them by their initials: PIGS, BRIC, ... Gee, only eight countries so far, but England, USA and European Union are teetering on the brink of collapse. I guess we'll shorten those to EEUUSA.

Several things could happen and most of them would be bad points. Our economy could shrink because of lost money and therefore less circulating. Possible deflation. The value of our currency would increase because it would become more of a scarce resource which would have a negative effect on our exports. Oh and there would not be 100 trillion dollars left in 10years if you stopped printing as money could be lost abroad taken out of the circular flow of income in savings. Stopping money printing is bad, I it wasn't then countries wouldn't print money.

It is not the paper money that matters, 90% of money transfers in the US happens using personal checks or in cyberspace and it is increasing all the time, so probably we would not even notice

I would say that would be fine, untill the population rises to ten billion.
