Is buffer capacity constant?

Buffer capacity of NaOH and sodium acetate/acetic acid?

  • If the buffer capacity for a system was defined as resisting a change in pH of 0.10 increments or less, what volume (in mL) of a 0.0790 M solution of sodium hydroxide could be added to an aqueous buffer made by combining 39.52 mL of a 0.3181 M sodium acetate with 48.59 mL of a 0.4415 M solution of acetic acid to achieve a final pH of 0.10 increments above the pKa of the acid? Can someone please break this down for me? I am so confused.
