How do you personally use energy?

How does the body use energy?

  • I understand that the body uses chemical reactions to fuel movement, and the energy is released, thus heating up the body. What I don't understand is how a chemical can turn into energy, and how the energy is prepared for use by the body. Basically, I don't understand the in-between when you have energy and then all the sudden you make your arm move. Also, if the by-product of using energy is heat, then why can't the body just re-absorb the heat back into stored energy?

  • Answer:

The chemicals dont turn into energy. The reaction that occurs from chemicals interacting will lead to other componds and left over energy in the form of heat (for exotehrmic reactions) How yoru muscles work is very interesting ..unfortunalely i dont remeber. The basics of it is suprisingly simple but when you learn how it all works together is very complicated. I remember it involving sodium, potasium there flow accross mussle tissure. They some how cause contraction of a musle in a very controlled way. This i leanred from a basic neouroscience course 10 years ago. I would google search its very interesting My guess Why the body cant absorb heat you ask. Heat flows from hot to cold. your body generates the heat and the heat will start to flow to your skin ..which happens to be a few degrees cooler than the inside of your body. Heat will always flow out. WHen that heat gets to your skin it will be radiated away in the form of intrared radiation, it will also get pulled away from your body by conduction and convection. Im not a biology person but i would guess that yoru body must do every thing it can to regulate that temperatur eof 98.6. So, it is designed to get rid of the heat if its too warm, and retain as mush heat as possible if its too cold
