How do I play the original sims 3 if I have the sims 3 pets installed?

Once you install expansion packs (in your case, the Pets expansion pack) all of the games combine together. You're not just playing the Sims 3 Pets, but you're playing both The Sims 3 AND The Sims 3 Pets. If you only want to play The Sims 3 without Pets, then you need to unistall it, but I wouldn't recommend that since you'll be deleting all of your families, etc,. The only reason the launcher is asking you to put in the Pets disk is because you installed it after The Sims 3.

There is absolutely no difference. Pets is an expansion of the base game. It just adds pets and pet stuff to your base Sims 3 game. If you don't want pets, don't make them and don't buy them. Then it's almost just like your base game. But as long as The Pets expansion is installed, you will always have the wild animals running around any world you play.
