Help needed with regard to post secondary education!?
-
I am currently enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program which is a challenging high school diploma aimed at enthusiastic kids. It is challenging, but I always manage to be in the Top 5% of my class (I got predicted a 37, if you know how the IB is scored) every time results come out (semesters). I also hold a diploma with the British Computer society, which is sort of a university diploma. I am currently in grade 11. I also work part time at the university of Toronto, as a part of the Nutritional sciences program and I also got a placement at the University of Toronto's Dental faculty's research program. I am also a secretary at the school university and I also work at the Home work help service at my school. I have also volunteered countless hours at hospitals. I also got accepted into a hospital's medical assistant program. Even with these things to put on my application, I am still not sure what my chances would be to get in any of the top universities like Harvard and Cambridge. What else would you suggest I do to increase my chances of attending these "big" schools?

Answer:
I would say try to boost up your IB score. A 37/45 is impressive, but possibly not impressive enough. Dont forget that everyone that applies to top schools all have top marks. A safe line would be 40+, with related courses being a 7 (or 6, at worst). Try to write your application in a way that is related to the field. Keep on showing them why you are the best candidate. Probably the best way to increase your chances is to add more related experience, but dont forget that the way you write/represent your experiences is equally as important. Focus on related experiences (you have a lot!) and dont let less-relevent things like being a secretary steal the spot light
