Physical therapy career help?

Can someone read this and tell me if I'm doing it right or wrong (English Help)?

• Writing a career research paper, it sounds ok to me but I have a feeling it's completely wrong. This is what I have so far. *it's double spaced in my paper* (My name) Mr. Best Senior English April 20, 2012 Music Therapy Career Exploration Many people have never heard of Music Therapy, so in turn they don’t know what it is used for. Music therapy is a new and emerging type of treatment. It’s “an allied health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, psychological, cognitive, and social needs.” (AMTA). Because not many people have an understanding of this career, I chose to research it in-depth to identify and explore the possibilities and requirements of a career as a music therapist. The most important thing to know when looking into a new career is what a person in that career does on a day to day basis. Music therapists works with individuals and groups of all ages and needs. They must know the best combination of instrumental and vocal music to achieve the result desired. “Therapists use techniques such as biofeedback, relaxation, anger management, and stress education.” (Netplaces). A Music Therapist, or MT, might see a baby that has trouble sleeping to play lullabies. An adult with depression might have a music therapist to help uplift them and give a positive influence. Music can encourage the elderly to get up continue moving. Also, music therapy helps give those with disabilities and neurological damage a way to communicate. (Netplaces). Overall, a music therapist works to improve the physical and emotional well-being of all patients. Sound like a nice career so far? Well, another thing to consider is the type of education necessary to enter the field. The Council for Exceptional Children says one looking in to music therapy “should take a variety of music classes (including music theory) as well as courses in science, English, communications, and psychology.” This career currently requires a bachelor’s degree in music theory, as well as courses in music therapy, behavioral sciences, health, and natural sciences, however in is moving in the direction of requiring a master’s degree. (Netplaces). Theory-based classroom learning as well as clinical application are combined in music therapy courses. If one wishes to work in a public school, versus a therapy center, education courses are also necessary. Some states also required that you pass the Music Therapy Board of Certification exam and renew it every 5 years. There are two ways to renew certification, either 100 units of courses in music therapy or retake the board exam. (Netplaces). Now that the career is understood and the educational requirements explained, what personal qualities would one need to possess to be successful? Florida State University says, “Success music therapists evidence personal qualities of leadership, intellectual curiosity, social commitment, and emotional stability.”
