Signage/Graphic Designers?

How much do web designers or graphic designers charge to create a logo?

  • I have a website, i designed it by myself, i like simple designs, like twitter, youtube and THE OLD FACEBOOK lol!! so designing the site is not an issue, inspired by twitter, (using twitter bootstap http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap lol) i did everything. But the logo, well i tried my best to create a good logo, but it does not look professional, So how much do professional web designers or graphic designers charge for a logo?

  • Answer:

It depends entirely on the calibre of the person you hire. If you want experienced professionals be prepared to spend the kind of money Andrew S talks about. There are plenty of no-hopers out there that charge nominal sums for what appears to be essentially unskilled but getting good people with the actual skills costs decent money. A professional approach need at least half an hour discussing the requirements and understanding the company, a couple of hours quick brainstorming and producing ideas, another half hour's discussion and another couple of hours refining the option chosen as an absolute minimum for straightforward job. That's five hours work - figure out the hourly rate based on that. If it works out to $10 or whatever you KNOW they lack the skills and experience to charge professional rates for the professional results you are seeking.

Typically anywhere from a couple of thousand upwards - it really all depends how much to-ing and fro-ing and market research you need. Be wary of anyone who offers to do it for a couple of hundred or less: it's a fair bet they haven't done it before and are not willing to put up with simple "No, I don't like that" assertions, regarding the job as done once they've knocked out any old crap.

Depends on what kind of logo was requested. I made one for $35 and was paid $40 for a few minutes work as client was very specific what they wanted. For a large company, which has no idea of their own except specific colors, it can run into thousands of dollars as you'll be getting a lot of turn-downs. Ron
