How can a company charge to make a name change on an account when they made the mistake?
-
I recently had Comcast Xfinity installed on my computer and the service person spelled my last name Laka instead of Luko. I did not notice the mistake. Comcast is requiring that I fill out a form to request that they change the spelling of my last name, include a copy of my Driver's license or a utility bill to prove my identity and pay $1.99 to have this change made. How can all of this nonsense be legal when it was their mistake and it is such a simple change to make? I have requested it over the phone and had to prove my identity to them then also. All of this seems like overkill to me and almost illegal. It certainly is an imposition. I think I'll remain Mrs. Laka!

Answer:
I should not use these people again. They are totally incompetent. If they made a mistake, they fix it. Especially if they had all the correct information at hand. There must be some consumer legislation available to you to help correct this issue. I suggest you find it, quote it to some manager, and get them to fix the problem. I suggest you look for a better company to give your hard earned money too. These people don't deserve it.
