Where to buy a record player?

Answer:
I'm in the United States so It is hard to know what is available in New Zealand. You can always check amazon and ebay. If there are Radio Shacks or Walmarts they may carry one. Thrift Stores often have old phonographs. You can search phonograph, record changer, turntable as keywords on Google, Ebay, Amazon, Walmart and other online sites.

If you care about your vinyl collection, I recommend you get a belt or direct drive turntable with magnetic cartridge, and an appropriate sound system. Standalone record players (at least pre 1980) tend to use idler drive, use ceramic cartridges, and lower quality audio. Many were record changers. They were good at the time at least. Modern big-box stores will have reproduction vintage players, or cheaper turntables. Specialist A/V retailers may be able to get proper component turntables and sound systems for them. For used, check the online classified ads, or even put a want ad there. Check thrift/charity stores, pawn shops, or modern antique stores.
