You need to do some basic troubleshooting. Is this the built in mouse on the laptop? if so do you have a usb mouse you can plug into it and see if that works. This will narrow it down to the mouse itself and not some other issue with the gui locking up. Go here: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html see if your driver is outdated or just reinstall it. If you dont know what the function of a driver is think of it as a translator that allows the language your computer is speaking to interact with the language that your hardware (mouse) is speaking. Its a little piece of software that makes your mouse work with windows. Anyway these get goofed up sometimes or just outdated, windows updates may have something to do with it who knows, but your best bet is to start there and reinstall the driver for it and see if that helps. failing software issues you might be stuck with a bad mousepad.

Does this only happen when browsing the Internet? If so, then it might be a problem with the internet browser. Try using a different browser. If it just happens when doing something else on your computer, try booting into safe mode and see if it's a problem with the drivers.

I have the same problem, its frezzing due to low interenet levels or the amount of programs downloaed or running all at the same time.. It also could be the battery's life dying
