How to write a resume for your first job?

  • Answer:

Name, address, school history, qualifications, Hobbies and interest. Mate most retail jobs cater to first timer's anyways so they are not expecting much from your CV. Just make sure you look good and give a first initial impression as that's what they will go by.

Just write a well written, flattering job interview thank you letter that is all about your future boss and company will distinguish you from the pile. The power of the word “you” is so strong that it can cause an employer to re-think and look through the stack of resumes and interview notes.Just try to check this site http://www.my-thank-you-site.com/job-interview-thank-you-letter.html

Go online and search for resume templates. There should be some that you find that are there to help first timers. Include any education, volunteer work or any other relevant work that matches the qualities of the position. Since this is your first job, I would imagine you will be applying to restaurants, coffee shops and other places that are similar to this. In this case, they will most likely have you fill out an application. This is much easier than a resume (resumes show your past work experience and qualities) and is easier to do IMO. Keep the 'work history' blank and they will understand that this is your first job. Cheers!

There are a lot of great resume books out there, many at your local library. Most include entire sections full of advice for people in facing the challenge you are. By the way, one great way to help ensure you have content for your first resume is to start volunteer work, if you aren't already. Good luck!
