What exactly is a guy asking when he asks you to prom?
-
His exacts words were "will you go to prom with me?", nothing fancy/gaudy to go with it, it happened while we were talking. Hes a (senior)friend (while im still a sphomore) and thats the only way i see him but i figure proms definetly a date. But then if its a date im i "going out" with him?! I wanna know what im getting into before i say yes

Answer:
You are overthinking this. He is asking you to attend the prom as his date. This does not mean your are "going out with him", just being his date (companion) for that function. If you like him go and have a good time.
