Where are some cat kennels?

Why can't my cat get along with my other cat? HELP!?

  • I've had this cat since she was 11 weeks old and now is 6 years old and is an indoor cat. My other cat I've only had her for about 2 years and she loves to be outside. My first cat doesn't get along with my other cat at all. When she sees her, she chases the poor cat. I've put each cat in a separate kennels and put them about 5-8 feet apart from each other for about an hour to see if they will get use to seeing each other. I done it for a week and nothing changed. I can't get rid of either cats so how can I get my first cat to get along? Any other suggestions?

You've had her for two years and this still isn't resolved? I'm assuming your 2nd cat was never in the house much at all before until now. Sounds like your first cat is an alpha and aggressive. I don't know if you have other pets, but she might just be like that to the other cat. I have 2 cats, and two dogs and this is what I do: Cats: Tyler, Mercedes Dogs: Rose, Vixie Tyler (Male, 1yr, fixed) Liked to tease rose and swat at her when we first got her last summer. Rose isn't aggressive and never did anything back. After a few months he stopped completely, once he got fixed he hasn't bothered her since. Mercedes I got in Oct. She is still a kitten and is fixed and when I brought her home Tyler would follow her everywhere and try to pin her down and smell her privates, rebarry her poop, etc. He wasn't fixed at the time though. Now that they are both fixed he doesn't bother her but they play all the time and chase eachother. Vixie is an outdoor dog and will eat the cats if I bring her inside without putting her in the kennel. Just keep watching them but separating them I think will prevent them from ever establishing an relationship. Feed them in separate places and I'm not sure if they'll need separate litter boxes. I only use one litter box, one food and water bowl for the cats and they never fight or act mean even when eating together. Hopefully the older one starts getting nicer, are they both fixed? Females can still act like alpha's cause Vixie (15yr old dog) is fixed and we've had her the longest and she doesn't like Rose half of the time. I have to feed her outside and Rose inside. Doubt Vixie will ever change and we can't take her to social events or walk her near other dogs because she's just mean to them. She always has been since she was a puppy, she was mean to her siblings. So your cat might just be a bully too.

It is called dominance. Your first cat has been there the longest so it has dominance over the other cat. It goes for any pets you have in your home. We have had a cat for 10 years and have had our mid sized dog for around 5...to this day our cat will chase our dog. Your second cat will eventually learn who is boss in your home..there isn't really anything you can do it is how the animal kingdom works.
