Whether whatsapp messenger would work on Blackberry 8820?

I'm thinking of buying a blackberry 8820 without camera (camera restricted at workplace). The basic purpose is to use whatsapp messenger. Would I be able to do that on this phone or not? And if I'm able to use whatsapp then would it be by just activating the internet pack (any 1 or 2 GB pack) or would I be required to subscribe to BIS/BES? Please reply ASAP.. Thanks in advance..
