  I played guitar for years before attempting to sing because I thought I couldn`t. Later I tried and after some serious practice I am now a singer song-writer. Learning to sing is just like learning any instrument. It takes practice. The only thing that will stop you is if you have no rythm. Other than that, anyone can sing if they can talk. You need to find your range. You really need to try to at least get a few lessons to get started. Get something to build upon. It would also help tremendously if you played an instrument but that`s another story entirely. There are a number of methods that can be used in order to practice. I suggest using an instrument such as a piano to tune your voice. You know, the "Doh, Ray, Fah," etc.etc. Sing along with songs and keep the music volume low enough so that you can hear your own voice. I would also suggest finding a person who sings or in fact find as many people as possible who sing and learn from them. Don`t think you can`t, think you can, in fact, KNOW you can. Practice, practice, practice. Nothing is a "Got it, Don`t Got It" thing in art.
