What can i do with a studio art major?

• Im either going to major or minor in studio art but can you explain to difference between major and minor for art and its benifits. Also what type of jobs can i get with such a degree that actually pay well? I want to live simple but in reality i will need enough mone to support my family and be capable of enjoying life with some luxury. I know i could be a teacher, what else besides that??!!! I mean Van Gogh was just an artist, whats he do sell his art for a living? Actually that has nothing to do with anything sinces hes from ages ago. But yeah what good paying jobs could i have? Thanks

  Minor is less hours, Major is more hours and you declare this Major in one particular medium, i.e. printmaking, drawing, painting, sculpture, etc. Take classes to find out what you like the most. You do have to take quite a few different ones for a degree, then you can focus on the ones you really feel comfortable with and want to stick with. Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) will get you a place to teach junior college, art museum art classes, gallery/education classes, private art teaching, look around for other businesses that have art programs to teach employees: I taught a couple of years for Form Motor Co. and Chrysler to their employees and they paid very well. Create art (good art) and sell. There's scads of places to sell your art online, art fairs, consignment, other stores... Etsy.com is great...look there for all the many different art types (check out their page: "Quit Your Day Job" and see those artists who only live on their artwork.. Master of Fine Arts (MFA) will allow you to teach College, University without an art education degree, that is what I have and taught at my university, private classes, art museum, schools, gallery education centers,etc. You do have to take hours in an MFA and studio art classes. There are SOOO many different types of artists out there, the sky's the limit! I hope this helps you a little bit more.
