Should I start out as a server at a restaurant?

I'm starting work as a server?

  • Tomorrow I start work as a server in a new restaurant that is opening, but I don't have any strong serving experience. I have worked at several restaurants and delivered pizza also for a long time so I understand how to talk to people, but I am concerned that I will forget peoples food or screw something up. Any advice or pointers on being a server?

  • Answer:

If you have a bad memory I would use you're little waiter notepad to write down everything they say on a sheet then copy over all the key orders onto a fresh bit and enquire if they have missed anything, this should be a solution for forgetting orders.
