Answer:
Hello Phil.... Pretty cool you want to build your own bow.. The Recurve bow in a traditional sence its one solid bow, much like the Longbow. You string it to shoot and unstring it transport it. As you already know its mainly made of one solid piece of wood. The Recurve Take Down bows are 3 pieces, you have the Riser, and the Limbs. The Limbs are attached to the riser with Limb bolt lock set screws, then the bow can be strung. When the bow is unstrung, it being 3 pieces and the string..its much easier for to carry your Recurve around(for trasportation). Most people do enjoy the Take down Recurve, couse it just dont take up that much space.. Best of luck...hope this helps

Takedown bow is easy to carry as it's 3 pieces assemble design. 2 limbs+1 riser, when you do not shoot, you can take down 3 pieces and put them into package, which length is only about 65cm(about 25.5inch), while the traditional recurve bow's package length is about 150cm(about 59inch). It's easy to take this 65cm length packeage into your car. I think this is the major difference between Takedown bow and Traditonal Recurve bow. Also, here's the link that have both of them, pictures, price and other details, http://www.archerysupplier.com/product-category/bow-and-arrow/

also the difference is and this is the most important, your draw strength a takedown is 3 pieces so this will allow you to change the weight you are pulling. This will be important as once you start your arms and back will become stronger and you will be able to handle more weight ( the more weight the faster and further your arrow will go). With a recurve one piece you are not able to change this out and will have to buy or make a new bow.

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/Q9EiE I will try to help you as much as I can, but I've only been shooting archery for a few months, so I'm sure other will have more complete answers. First, your original question...a take down is a type of recurve. A take down bow is one where you can remove the limbs and replace them without having to buy a whole new bow. This is especially helpful when you are ready to add more draw weight. Unfortunately your link didn't work, so maybe if you could just give the links to the bows you are looking at it might work better. But here are a few tips for shopping for a bow in general. 1) I suggest you try to find a good archery shop. They will know what questions to ask, and make sure you get sized up for a bow (it is not a one size fits all.) I would say something around a 20 lbs draw weight is a good starting point. Draw length is also very important, but that's not something I could guess at. So hopefully they can help you with that. They will also make sure you get the right arrows. You don’t want ones that are too short or long for your bow. 2) Sights - The way it was explained to me was the number of pins helps for different distances. So you would use one pin to sight for a certain distance, and another pin to sight for a different distance. The more advanced shooters shoot from many different distances so they have more pins. So yes, a 3 pin sight is fine to start with shooting from the same distance. 3) Wrist and finger guards - I'm going to add arm guards to this. Almost every archer has an arm guard and something to protect the fingers. -Finger guard - You can use either a finger tab or a glove. I prefer a tab, but it's really a personal preference. Your fingers should not be blistering. - Arm guard - The arm guard should go on the inside of your arm, just below the elbow. ***Tip - Most female shooters have a hard time not hitting their arm because their elbow curves in towards your string. Be sure to bend your elbow to get it out of the way of the string. - Not sure about a wrist guard. I’ve haven’t had any wrist stress. Maybe it’s an issue with your technique? Optional but helpful equipment - A carrying case so your equipment stays in good condition. A quiver to hold your arrows while shooting. String wax to help keep the strings from fraying
