What is the most informative I.T. Forum?

What would you like to see in a general discussion forum?

• i have just opened a general discussion forum that i want to grow. i want to know what things people would like to see in a general discussion forum - what would encourage them to join, what would put them off, how i could make the forum better. what sort of discussions to people like, what sort of gadgets, what level of moderation do they consider reasonable, what is too much, what is too little also how many people have used forums - do they still use them, if not why not . for the people who have never used one again why not, and what might encourage you to start. consider it basic research - if i know what people want i can offer it for those who want to know what i already have the link is www.adifferentopinion.net/forum

  That's very cool. I would say many people are still using forums, General discussion can be very big, so breaking it down into smaller categories and then subcategories will be best. Jokes --> Animal Jokes, Sex Jokes, Male Jokes, Female Jokes, Baby Jokes... Making Money --> Offline, Online, Internet Marketing, Retail, Wholesale... Sports --> Football, Rugby, Cricket, American Sports... Mums Only ---> Baby Products, New Mums, Ask Aunt... Latest Gadgets & Toys Review Cars --> Brands, German Cars, American Cars etc... Reasons why people wouldn't use a forum is possibly down to safety and you will find that many people do use a forum, they just won't be members. It will depend on your traffic and how active members will be. Encouraging members to join a general forum may be very difficult, but an award system may be a nice feature, it may help the members feel proud to be part of something and try to achieve something.
