How do you downgrade a custom firmware PSP to official firmware 1.5?

PSP custom firmware advice?

  • I bought a PSP a few years ago in Asia and the guy put custom firmware on it, i didnt know what this was but he explained a bit to me. Just wanna get some advice. My PSP has custom firmware that can be turned on to play games downloaded on my memory card by going to photos and pressing down and the screen turns green (what is this??). This has to be done every time the PSP is turned off as it returns to default system software so i always keep it on stand-by. I started to download PS1 games from PSN store to my PS3, i want to transfer them to my PSP but i need a system update since i have never updated since i bought it ((version 5.03) to play them. will this affect the custom firmware?????? and should i update

  • Answer:

You PSP is Soft-modded meaning the mod will erase when you will pull out your PSP battery pack. You cannot get connected to PSN store until you update your firmware from the official PSN store, if you update the firmware of your PSP from PSN store you then you cannot play games off your memory stick. Try downloading games off your PC and transfer the game to your PSP using the USB cable, you will have to sacrifice either PSN store or the ability to play games off the memory stick...thats the rule for the hacking of every gaming consoles.

You dont need custom firmware to play downloaded games from the psStore... But if you want you can download games for free via torrents etc and put them in a folder called ISO in the root of your memory stick... Then when you go to "games/Memory Stick" on your psp all the games will be there! However considering that you psp is from asia you may take a while finding the games... Try the website: kat.ph
