Changed my power supply and the computer won't turn on, plus the light is still blinking, how can I fix it?
-
I have very limited knowledge on computers. What happend is that after a thunder storm my computer wouldn't turn on again, the led was on but that's all. Searched for what it could br and found that the problem was my power supply. I got a old working computer, which is exactly like the one I use, and changed the power supply from one to the other. I plugged it all back in but the light from what I believe is the motherboard is blinking now and the computer won't turn on... How can I fix it?

Answer:
what normally happens during thunderstorms is your power supply will go out and then a few of the times your motherboard will go out also. I would check the requirements of the power supply to make sure it's compatible with your motherboard and then diagnose your motherboard if your power supply is fine.

Sounds Like something has suffered from the spike that was caused by the storm. It's not the first time, and most likely wont be the last. It could be a range of devices, such as the motherboard being blown, the plug socket on the wall being blown. It could be that your house is suffereing from reduced power levels, so the PSU will power the hardware, but it wont turn on. Your best bet would be to take it to a specialist, as no one here can really troubleshoot it, without pictures, and an in depth description of the problems. If you are having any issues, feel free to message me and i'l see if i can help. Ash
