Any one know were i can sell a formal dress in duluth mn?

This girl ruined my expensive prom dress!?

  • I've been out of high school for around 3 years now. Back in 2010 I gave my prom dress to my now fiance's sister to store for me, and I told her she could wear it for her prom; I was going to sell it after her prom which was last weekend (two years later). Now this dress was expensive for a prom dress, it was around $600. I was looking at her prom pictures, and noticed one of her friends was wearing my dress.. but it looked very, very short and uneven. I asked my fiancees sister and said she didn't want to wear it anymore, but one of her friends who could afford a prom dress asked if she could (of coarse without asking my permission). Apparently her friend didn't even ask if she could chop it up (WITHOUT A SEAMSTRESS, she used a pair of scissors.. it was a huge poofy tulle bottom dress) to make it the length that suited her midget body (i'm 5'6 and this girl is around 4'9 to 5'1. It's now not sell-able. I wanted at least $100 for it. The girl could have least given me something. I remember I worked very hard to earn that dress. I don't think it's right for her to ruin a mint condition dress that she was borrowing without my permission. I don't think she deserved to wear it after that. Now everyone thinks im a snob because I don't like that she ruined my expensive dress because "I was helping a girl out in need". Prom isn't a life or death experience, she didn't have to go. What pisses me off is that they were purposely hiding it. His sister knew about it for months in fact. grrr I know I wasn't going to wear it again, way to young for my taste. But it just makes me angry that I worked so hard for that dress that this girl ruined who isn't even paying me for it. The dress was still rightfully mine. :/ Whats your opinion? My prom was back in 2008. But the dress was definitely not dated. The dress designer is selling a similar dress now for over $900.

you definitely have a right to be pissed that's alot of money im spending 380 on my dress and intend on selling it after because its so much money on one night over a dress you will never wear again thats very rude for the girl to ruin it and for your to-be sister in law not to tell you that someone else would be wearing it

you should go to her parents and have them pay for the dress for the price you intended on selling it for anyway 100$. its not right at all and you have the right to be angry cuz i would too. my dress was almost 500$ and if someone cut it up without asking me and tried to hide it i'd be furious and would probably sue. (but thats just me) you may have been helping someone with out knowing but the dress wasnt hers to alter/destroy Get the money you deserve

You have every right to be pissed off. She could have asked permission to do that before hand. Or at least give you 600 dollars back for it. Honestly, if I was you, I would tell her to pay you back the full amount for the dress. And I don't think your being a snob. Anyone in your situation would be piss too. But What it sounds like your finance and family sound like they don't care unless its their's, get what i mean?

Ok, you posted it. Leaving it open for opinion, mine. For starters, you left someone else in care of your dress for 2 years. And yet you say you care for the dress, not. The time to sell it was after your prom, not now. You say the dress is too young for you to wear, yet you act 13. This is your future sister in law, someone you will be dealing with for a lifetime. You will be raising kids in this family, chill out. Apologize for your pissy behavior and get on with life.
