Figure Skates -have a toe pick (spiked teeth part at the front of the blade) -have a rocker (the underneath of the blade is actually rounded slightly) -boots are made from leather and range in stiffness - high level skaters have boots that are much much stiffer than beginners boots -have a heel (more of an arch than hockey skates) http://www.skatesforless.net/images/T/classique.jpg Hockey Skates -have more of a rounded blade -no toe pick -most are made of a plastic material and not leather -blades are mounted on by rivets that hold the plastic part on the blade, figure skate blades are directly mounted on to the boot by screws -have a slight arch but not a heel like figure skates http://www.prohockeylife.com/images/bauer_x20_skates.jpg
