How to replace a string inside of a Word Document?

My Documents aren't printing correctly in Word 2010?

  • I recently upgraded to Office 2010 yesterday, and cannot print documents correctly from Word, when my document comes out of the printer, it has 'scaled' my document down by about 70%, For example, if I open a fresh new word document, and make a square that covers the whole A4 page, it appears at it does in the document on print preview (as it should be) but when it comes out of the printer, it has gotten smaller, and dosent cover the whole page, This does not AFFECT ANY OTHER APPLICATION, OR ANY OTHER OFFICE APPLICATION LIKE POWERPOINT OR OUTLOOK. I have checked all of my print settings in word and everything is set as usual (or so i can tell - A4, Portrait Orientation)... As ive said, Print preview shows that everything should be fine. But when it comes out of the printer, it has been scaled down, by about 50% or so, And i can't figure out why? I have already tried to reset Word's settings (by using a Microsoft FixIt found on a KB) and then Word was set back to how it was when i first installed office 2010... I really cannot find out whats going on, Word worked find in Office 2007, and so did printing, this is the FIRST time I have printed from Word 2010. So I cannot figure out whats going wrong. Heres some photos to give you a better idea of my problem: http://tinypic.com/r/2r4sawl/5 - I drew a Blue gradient box that covers the whole of the A4 Page. http://tinypic.com/r/10ehblu/5 - As you can see, the document is displayed correctly in the print preview window, and all settings *seem* to be correct. http://tinypic.com/r/34njw94/5 - My document ends up like this, scaled down, and cut off at the bottom, on another page i printed, the box ended up (again scaled) yet centered in the middle of the page, again with the bottom cut off. (let me just mention that my printer is a fairly new printer, yet i have ran out of colour ink, so it is forced into B+W) The printer is a Canon MP499 Colour Inkjet. There is nothing wrong with the printer though, as every other application can print correctly. you will probably find it is the print settings that are set to do the standard legal size and not the A4 that is loaded. There are two places to check the settings in Office 2010. In the ribbon on the top switch to the Page Layout tab, check the margins option (default is around 2.5cm on all sides) and you can opt to set to narrow. Also check in the "Size" option on the same tab and be sure it is set to A4. the second place is click on the Office icon top left, select the Word Options lower right-ish. Click on Advanced and scroll down to the Printer options, make sure it is set to Scale content for A4 or 8.5" x 11" and that the box below is set to Use Printer Settings, then you can apply and exit. You need to then be sure the printer is set for A4 as well so the settings match!

The site, if it allows Word files at all, probably wants a .doc file. Save As Microsoft Word 97-2003. Or it may want a text file. You have to attach the type of file the site wants, it's not your choice.
