Best Lures for Barramundi?

Best soft plastic lures for barramundi?

  • Answer:

I would think if barramundi were to actually hit soft plastics, they would go for something like a good-sized curly-tailed grub fished on a hefty lead jighead... something that imitates one of their favorite meals; juvenile Nile perch. Barramundi don't strike me as the kinda fish that would slurp up a Texas rigged worm or a 4 inch worm fished on a drop shot rig. Perhaps a small barramundi would pick up a tiny paddletail worm or reaper fished on a finesse split shot rig. It's worth a shot, though. Y'never know until you try, y'know? Cool avatar by the way.

Considering the fact that the barramundi's diet are almost similiar to bass, I going to give you an answer from my knowledge of fishing based on North American bass. Over here I have caught bass on crankbaits, plastics, spinners, and flies. After doing some internet research a lot of sites suggested using bibbet lures or minnows, here for me that would equate to rapala. However, you want to go more finesse with plastics, so heres a couple of links so you could choose from. As for my recommendation I would suggest frogs, lizards, worms, and if possible fish plastics. I dont vouch for a particular brand when it comes to plastics, because usually after a couple of trips you have to replace them , its more of the technique that matters. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/browse/fishing-soft-baits/_/N-1100333/Ns-CATEGORY_SEQ_104772780?WTz_l=SBC%3Bcat104793480 http://www.rapala.com/Storm/Soft-Baits/storm-softbaits,default,sc.html http://www.roboworm.com/roboworm.htm
