How many watts RMS for two subs?

How many watts should my amp have if theyre pushing two 12 inch orion xtr series 2 subs with 500 rms 4 ohms?

  • Answer:

so you need a class d amplifier that is putting out 1000 w rms of continuous power at a 4 ohm load. this type amp is set up for running sub woofers only, you can also use a channeled amplifier that is putting out 500 w rms from each channel or 1000 rms in a bridged mode on lp or low pass.a match for continuous rms is what your looking for, from amp to subs, aways add the rms rating of both subs to each other before looking for the right amplifier.if you already done this then 500 rms is what your looking for at a 4 ohm load.
