What is something like ebay that will ship worldwide and not need PayPal?

Ebay/Amazon Sellers?? I need some advice..please?

  • I'm almost completely broke and I'm trying to make some income online and I am very new to this. I do know how to use ebay and amazon but I'm having some trouble deciding on a product to sell. I'm NOT looking for your leads or anything like that. I found a company that will sell to me in wholesale prices through wholesale central(anyone have experience with them?) but I would need to make an order of $500 or more in order to get good prices. Now I found a product that I think would work, there aren't many people selling the item on ebay(I didn't check Amazon yet) and the price they are selling at is high enough to make a profit after all the fees and estimated shipping costs so I think I would be able to compete. So here is my question.. Lets say that I estimated the total cost for the product(s)(I'm not sure how much shipping to me will be) correctly, I will have to spend about $600 for approximetley 40-50 products. If I can make $2-3 profit per product I will be making $80-$150 on every $600 I spend. Is this a good profit for selling online? It seems kinda low to me considering all the work.. I would have to risk $600 from my pocket, list 40-50 items and then answer emails and ship out all these items. If I get lucky I will sell them in one month and make $80-$150...thats if I sell them all. I would have to sell most of them( not all) to break even and if I don't sell enough I will loose money! That's my thought process.. Any advice? input? something I'm not thinking about? Any suggestions/input would be appreciated!! (please tell me if you are an online seller) Thank You!

That's a tough one. The problem with starting a business on eBay is that it's starting a business and generally that means there are a lot of expenses paired with a lot of work before you start seeing a profit. The unfortunate thing is that most people who are starting to sell on eBay need the profits right now. You have to answer some of your questions yourself. Do YOU think it's worth it to earn the numbers you are talking about? Are you willing to put in the amount of time it takes for those profits? Everyone's needs are different so it's hard for anyone to tell you yes or no. Some people sell items they only make $1-2 profit on, but they are selling and shipping hundreds a day in only a few hours. What I might suggest is that you see if you can find some items you already have and try selling those. Then branch out and ask your family and friends if they have things you could sell for them at a percentage. I've been selling on eBay for over 10 years and people are asking me all the time if I will list their things for them. You also want to make sure in your calculations that you include Paypal fees, eBay fees, envelopes, toner, packaging materials, labels, and any taxes (many people don't but you are suppose to collect sales tax from any buyers residing in your own state, unless you happen to live in one of the few sales tax free states). You are doing the right thing by reaching out and asking for guidance, so I think you're on the right track. Julie www.JulieBay.com

Keep in mind.. listing fees Final Value fee on ending price Final Value fee on total S/H buyer pays you Paypal fee on the total amount invoiced Expenses for an packing materials Cost of scammers claiming "not as described" and returning a box with a rock in it and paypal refunding them in full. Be sure to check 'Completed listings' for sell-through percentage and prices. If you can buy your merchandise cheap enough, and charge enough to cover all the fees and costs and still add enough Profit for you at the end i'd then go for it but it doesn't sound like this is the case for you. It is NOT a easy or Fast way to make money. I hope this helps :)

$2-$3 per product? You will lose money even if nothing goes wrong. Biggest mistake people make is under charging. I sell a lot of product both on ebay and a web store and my markup is 400% and at the end with all my expenses I end up with a 40% to 50% profit margin. Now my stuff is all smaller less expensive items $1 to $10 but even if you are buying something for $50 you should be selling it for $100 to make any real profit. Too many little expenses will eat up your profit and put you in dept if you are not very, very careful.
