Will I have to buy healthcare insurance?

So, when forcing people to buy healthcare insurance from private companies is found unconstitutional, will...?

  • Answer:

Not sure which way the Court will go on the mandate given the make up of this court. I would be surprised to see the law struck in its entirety. The realty is, as written, the mandate isn't particularly strong in terms of enforcement and most people WANT the individual provisions the law calls for despite claiming to be against the law in polls.

Yes, until the people realize they don't have the choice, only the insurance companies do as to whether or not they will cover you, let you buy insurance, and at what price. There is no public option. So you're screwed if the entire bill falls apart. Which is also perfectly Constitutional...it just didn't work.

Without the mandate, the car doesn't drive. The mandate is what would allow private insurance companies to cover everyone. Healthy people bring costs down, enabling insurance companies to provide care to expensive sick people. Not only that, but nothing would stop people from buying insurance right before they got to the hospital. So, without the mandate, I don't really know how much of this law is viable. At least, that's what I am hoping for when it's found unconstitutional.

Is it unconstitutional in Switzerland where everyone also has a rifle? Insurance companies don't want the public/private option they have in Germany. Tbh I have no idea how to fix the system, but costs are going to keep rising due to a number of things.

Obama doesn't have the political capital to get anything as big as that passed through congress, He blew that on Obamacare like a fool.
