First Credit Card question?
-
I'm looking into getting my first Credit Card and wondering how this works. Does it work like a job application and you can apply to multiple ones for back ups? In other words I don't want to find out that I get 6 applications approved and that means I have 6 credit cards. I mainly want to use this for school books as I am a full time student. All I really need help with is the application process. Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Don't apply to more than two or three. Multiple applications lower your credit score. If you have a bank account, apply for a card from that bank.

The law now requires that people under 21 provide proof of sufficient income to qualify for a credit card or have a parent co-sign. Most cards want to see at least 12 months off work history to go with that income. Without the income and a job, it is very unlikely that you will qualify for any credit cards. Definitely do not apply for mutliple cards. You will get denied just because you have applied for so many cards and it appears you are over extending yourself.

Dude... do this and you won't be sorry: 1) Apply for 2 credit cards. Make sure 1 is a Visa or MasterCard (b/c they're accepted anywhere) 2) PAY OFF IN FULL your balance at the end of every month. If you can do these very simple things... you will have outstanding credit.
