Do I have to be an American citizen to audition on American Idol?

Hi! I'm Michael, and I'm 17 years old. I've been singing since I started to speak(at least my Mom says so). And I've really wanted to audition on American Idol but I've got a problem - I am not American. I love singing very much and I really wanna try out. But because I'm not an American citizen and my English isn't that perfect I have some doubts about it. What do you think? Will I be able to do this?

You have to live in the US and have the right paper work A few years back, there were someone who made the top 24, had to drop out of the show due to not having the right visa This year they have two not born in the US, both came over with parents when they were children Hollie and Heejun I am not sure if they are American citizens or not You do not have to be, a few year back a girl from Ireland made the tour You have to have the right visa
